Triny+3My had a success at Hodonin
7 July 2004 Slovacko - regional weekly
This year the international music festival Concentus Moravie organized
a fascinating experience for a group of about a hundred visitors of
the Thursday concert at Hodonín, the city that became a partner of
this prestigious festival for the first time. The emotional atmosphere
was evoked by
At the outset, double bassist Franti‘ek Raba set up the emotional
atmosphere along on stage by strumming softly the song "Violet", thus
attracting to the stage his colleagues, violinists Pavel Fischer and
Martin Kaplan, viola player Jiří Zelba. The instrumentalists were
joined by members of the vocal trio Triny, who appeared, bearing candles,
dressed in expressive costumes. An uncommon evening ensued, with a
program that included love songs, funny songs and drinking songs taken
from the traditional Czech song collections of Franti‘ek Su‘il and
Franti‘ek Barto‘. The special atmosphere of the concert was underlined
by the accompanying speech of one of the singers - Iveta Kováčová,
a well-known TV presenter and moderator. While the instrumentalists
paid closer attention to the original purity of Janáček´s arrangements
of the songs of these two famous Czech collectors, the vocal trio
employed a greater dose of fantasy and sometimes sought the inspiration
also in other music styles and spheres. The public was treated to
the sort of original evening that one remembers for a very long time.

Concentus Moraviae: Old and new dreaming
(fragment of the article about the festival Concentus Moraviae)
Harmonie 9/2004
The performance of the music group Triny+3My at the Hodonín´s cathedral
(arrangements of songs of Su‘il´s collection) presented a very interesting
comparison to the final festival concert of Iva Bittová at the cathedral
in Kyjov (selection of the Janáček´s Moravian folk poetry in songs).
It is not a coincidence that it was Pavel Fischer, first violinist
of the Škampa quartet, who played a large role in both concerts. Moravian
folk songs of the Su‘il collection in the interpretation of the music
group Triny+3My had a rather sound, however it didn't miss
the original folk expression. The pure, soft singing of the female
vocal trio was truly outstanding, as they tended to avoid higher dynamic
levels. Upon occasion we could pick up individual inspiration in musical
expression. The arrangements also sometimes evoked a gypsy and occasionally
even Jewish sound. It was not an attempt to interpret Su‘il's original
version. Rather, it was a "Su‘il" in the hands of those who have their
own idea about traditional folk music. The extremely original concert
had a very cordial atmosphere and was a very unusual experience.
